Battered and Bruised

The life expectancy of an average car has often been debated. Several years ago, it was widely discussed that manufacturers built cars to last for three years. Obviously this doesn’t mean that your automobile will suddenly stop working after three years exactly but, it could be interpreted as manufacturers use parts that are only designed to be functional for three years.

Fortunately, most cars do survive a lot longer than three years. Diesels do tend to outlive their petrol counterparts. It is not uncommon to listen to of some diesel cars covering 200,000 – 300,000 miles before they finally become uneconomical to repair. Japanese cars such as Honda and Toyota also have an exceptional record for automobile longevity.
